Broughton PTSA Programs

PTSA Programs inspire student learning and enhances the educational experience for our 2000+ BHS students and 200 faculty and staff. We fund technology updates, educational software & support, foreign language special projects, social issue awareness, faculty grants for educational enrichment, internship supplies, staff appreciation events, campus beautification & facility improvements, academic recognition & support programs & events, spirit wear and much more!

Together we BOOST Broughton students to strive for excellence at all levels, whether they're headed for a four-year degree, two-year degree, vocational/technical college or straight to the workforce. Our goal is student success in school and beyond.  Below are just a few programs and projects we are privileged to fund:

Academic Agendas: Create agendas available to all students through Student Services. These planning agendas aid in promoting organizational skills and time management, as well as providing important school information, calendar dates and the Student Handbook.

After School Learning Lab: First offered in Spring 2022, PTSA funds an after school learning lab for students monitored by BHS teaching staff on campus free of charge. Lab services include peer tutoring & homework help, study skills / organizational skills, study groups, and resources for projects (printer, scissors, glue, paper, markers & more). It also serves as a place for students to make-up missed tests, quizzes and assignments.

Faculty Grants: Support teachers and programs at Broughton across all areas and at all levels of learning, encompassing special education, arts, world languages, and sciences. From remediation to Advanced Placement, teachers use PTSA funds to create new programs and projects for classes.

Education Software: Funds software requests to modernize student communication, including WebAssign (an online homework application for faculty and students), x2vol (a software program to track community service hours online, Calendly (a online scheduling platform used by Student Services counselors), and Quia online study software to assist CTE teachers in customized learning.

Special Education: Funds the Special Education Department to facilitate Community Based Instruction Practices for students in self-contained settings.

Technology: In 2020-2021 funded retrofitting computers for 3D design used in graphic design and advanced 3D modeling.  In addition, we financially supported various programs for teachers to enhance their remote learning experiences such as Quizlet, Idroo, Gimkit, FANSchool, and more.

Recognition of Academic Achievement: Provides Purple Honor Cords (NC Scholar) and Graduation Stoles with Latin Honors Designations for graduation and hosts assemblies and receptions for students, including All-As breakfasts, grade-level Honors Receptions, and the Summa Cum Laude (four-year 4.25+ cumulative GPA) dinner.

Staff Appreciation: Coordinates staff appreciation events throughout the school year, including a Back-To-School breakfast, Teacher of the Year luncheon, End of Year Retirement Celebration dinner, and Staff Appreciation Week.

Student Programs: Funds student participation in Caps Camp, Reflections, and Science Olympiad.

Family Support: Works with Student Services to support our families-in-need, including collections for the Broughton Pantry and Break boxes.
